You were just a cat
From humble beginnings
You became quite regal
The Grande Dame of our household
Demanding soft cushions and sunbeams
But happy with private spots
Where no one knows you’re there
When ignored, you didn’t mind
You were just a cat
But what a cat
Never wanting anything
But love
Answering with purrs and meows
Now it’s time to let you go
Reluctantly
The moment has come
